Performance Training Program
Foundations of Stage & Performance
June 13–August 2026
For over 15 years, the Áche Performance Project has offered dancers a space to deepen their training through the process of creating and presenting work together. Throughout that time, performance and choreography have remained important tools for exploration, education, growth, and artistic development.
This summer, we’re excited to begin building something new.
The Performance Training Program is a 3-month process focused on the foundations of performance training and the many skills involved in functioning within a performance environment and group setting.
While many social and class-based skills transfer to the stage, performance requires its own set of tools — ones that can deepen our dancing whether or not we choose to perform.
What We’ll Explore
Throughout the process, students will work with concepts including:
blocking, spacing, and formations
timing and coordination within a group
how social and performance dance overlap — and how they differ
adapting partnerwork for performance settings
adapting movement to different performance spaces
introduction to choreographic tools and creative process
the mental and physical awareness performance environments require
This is not a performance team, nor is it centered around preparing for a show.
Sessions will be approached as an ongoing training and creative lab throughout the summer, balancing individual study and development with the experience of working, adapting, and communicating within a group process. The program is designed to help dancers develop a deeper understanding of the performance facet of the dance while cultivating skills that can positively impact their overall growth, awareness, communication, and versatility as dancers.
